From Page to Pill

The Albany Law Journal of Science & Technology Presents its Fall Symposium – From the Page to the Pill: Reproductive Rights and the Law, Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Albany Law School. Scholars, students, practitioners, physicians, and members of the public are welcome, the event is free, and open to the public.

Panelists to date include:

  • Helen Alvaré, Associate Professor of Law, George Mason University School of Law
  • Tracey Brooks, CEO, Family ​Planning Advocates for New York State
  • Michael Costello, Attorney, Tobin and Dempf LLP
  • Judith Daar, Dean, Whittier Law School
  • Anna Franzonello, Staff Counsel, Americans United for Life
  • Shaifali Puri, Director, Scientists without Borders
  • Melissa Weiler-Gerber, Executive Director, Family Planning Council of Pennsylvania

Sandra Fluke, recent Georgetown Law Graduate and Women's Rights Activitist, will give introductory remarks. The panelists will be divided into two panels, both moderated by Albany Law School Professor Evelyn Tenenbaum. The first will focus on whether or not the law can and should mandate health insurance provider coverage of women's contraceptives, and the second will focus on legislation currently affecting women's reproductive rights.

A reception, held in the East Foyer, will take place after the panels. " From the Page to the Pill: Women's Reproductive Rights and the Law" is free and open to the public.
